Unitary Council for Cambridgeshire – one step closer?

it is no longer sensible or financially viable to maintain 5 district or city councils, a county council and a unitary council within the boundaries of Cambridgeshire.

Services to the people of Cambridgeshire are being cut because of a lack of money yet councillors want to maintain their own positions.

The chief exec of Cambridgeshire County Council is leaving and should not be replaced. Instead this should act as a catalyst for a county wide unitary authority.

It seems sensible that the chief exec of Peterborough could look after Borh organisations. This might kick start the unification process.
