On my way to the West Suffolk Conservative Association AGM yesterday, I had a tyre blow out at Burrough Green. I came to a frustrated halt just opposite the Bull pub.
A quick call and I was picked up and taken to the meeting which was just as well as I had a speaking part. When I was dropped back at my car a couple of hours later I called the AA and wandered into The Bull pub to sit out the predicted 1 to 2 hour wait.
What a lovely landlord and landlady. The kitchen was closed but they rustled up a ham and cheese roll for me and the landlady raided her own personal stash of choccie bars to cheer me up. Big thank you to both of you.
The AA turned up and worked their magic. However, the young fella might want to think about his bedside manner. Whilst changing the wheel he then asked how far I had to drive to get home. When I said 10 miles he sucked his teeth, in the way only car folk can do, before telling me he doubted I would make it as the other front tyre was worn as well. It was with some trepidation I drove home!!!!!!!
It goes without saying nobody has my size tyres so they have to be ordered for Monday.
