If you don’t know about CLASP then here is a link too their website. It is an amazing organisation made up of amazing people. They host a three course Wednesday lunch for the elderly, many of whom are on their own, often going to peoples homes to pick them up and drop them off in the CLASP minibus. Have a look at what CLASP offer and get involved. It’s worth it. https://clasp-clare.co.uk
They also host weekly shopping trips to Sainsbury’s or Aldi, coupled with a coffee at a garden centre on the way home and provide Car-aid to help transport folk to and from medical appointments. This is all self funded through fund raising events and small donations if folk can afford it.
A nicer bunch of helpers, who are all volunteers, you would struggle to find. The community spirit is second to none. When mum moved up from Cornwall last year CLASP made her so welcome and introduced her to so many new friends.
Mum is now fully embedded in this brilliant organisation. So much so she volunteered (possibly!!!) to help another attendee raise a collection for all the helpers to say thank you. Mum then roped me in to help her buy the presents and to present them today. I confess I had to say less than I planned because I was choked up with emotion reflecting on how wonderful CLASP has been helping mum get over dad passing and her relocation to Clare from Cornwall.
We all had a lovely Christmas dinner, all freshly cooked, and were treated to Nigel on the organ so we could sing Christmas carols. A really lovely time.
