Cambridgeshire County Council – Busway opening date announced – it’s time to get onboard. It’s been  a while coming but we now have a date for the guided bus to  open. This is a great day, if a little late.  August 7th 2011 ( I add the year to satisfy those that still find that little joke worth cracking) buses will start to run along the guided busway.

I pay tribute to those who came before me. Jill Tuck, the previous leader and Roy Pegram who held the portfolio until recently. They did all the hard work and that should be recognised.

A new piece of infrastructure in the county is a good thing. Let us celebrate. Of course there are issues to sort out with the contractors but we always knew that. I will be seeking to sort out that problem in a manner that gets the best possible value for the people of Cambridgeshire.
