This afternoon, together with Mark Lloyd, I met with a number of Cambridge church leaders. They each represent a network of churches and were keen explore how their churches might better engage with other organisation.
We had an interesting meeting and discovered we had many aims and objectives in common. This was particularly obvious in the area of community cohesion and protecting vulnerable people.
In the same way that county, district or city councils are often lumped together as “the council” it seems the church is no different. Not only is there distinction at the top level, which religion, there are many different choices to be made within a single religion. This is clearly making it much harder for organisations, like ours, to know where to engage and on what subject. This group aims to make this more simple.
I look forward to a return visit in a few months.
