So, my second meeting of the day was with …………. Eric Pickles for the second time.

This time it was at Northstowe. We were able to show off our magnificent guided busway at Longstanton park and ride, which certainly caught his eye.

We went on to show him were this new town was to be built and how important the A14 improvements are to this project. The housing is badly needed if we are to continue to grow our economy. I discussed with Eric how the government might help us, as local authorities, to build on our success to date.

Eric was very impressed with the cooperation between our local councils and our mutual desire to drive the economy forward.

I have an action to follow up with the Secretary of State on a number of issues and opportunities.
