A new study by Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK), has revealed that Cambridge is Europe’s most successful technology cluster, having produced 10 companies valued at more than $1 billion, and two valued at more than $10 billion.
In total, Cambridge has over 1,525 high-tech companies, employing more than 53,000 people. In 2011, these companies had a combined turnover of over £11.8bn.
We at the County Council are throwing our weight behind supporting continued growth.
The Cambridge Technology cluster is certainly good for Cambridge, but we shouldn’t loose perspective. Firms like Apple or SAP alone have 60,000 employees each.
