Interesting that the Lib Dem controlled Cambridge City council are putting up rents by 5.2%.

The Lib Dem MP for Cambridge has just voted against his party and the coalition government on the Welfare Benefits Up-rating Bill 2nd Reading which limits benefit increases to just 1%.

We have to assume that Julian Huppert wants to give more tax payers money to benefit claimants so so that they can afford the rent increases.

I guess, having been passed over in the recent ministerial reshuffle, all attempts for promotion have been abandoned to be replaced by a desperate desire to hang on to his seat in Cambridge. I see that Labour have it as a target seat.
