I’m looking forward to meeting Simon Burns, Minister of State for Transport, today to discuss our new rail station in Cambridgeshire. Joining me will be local MP Jim Paice and I hope Andrew Lansley MP if government business allows.

I invited Simon to come and talk about our deal with the DfT to bring forward the Cambridge Science Park Station in time to be put into the new franchise agreement. The County Council is funding the building of the station which was one of my early quick wins when I became Leader.

Frankly nothing much had happened for the previous 20 years. As the business case is so solid we just needed to stop talking and get on with it.

We will be visiting the proposed site and then into private talks to move the deal forward.
