Road building is expensive and lots of it is required.

At the same time our Armed Forces are being cut back with a lose of capacity and capability, including our ability to create and repair runways.

How about increasing the Royal Engineers and at the same time use them to be part of our road building program. This would help to drive down the costs of building roads, increase flexibility and help to maintain our Armed Forces at no real extra cost to the public purse.
