When I joined the RAF back in 1977 I took an oath of allegiance to the Queen and to my country. Such oaths are not taken lightly. Prince Philip took an oath to the Queen that has endured for over 70 years. Such dedication and public service can only be imagined.

I had the honour to meet the Prince a few years ago and exchanged a few words of banter. He was on very good form!

Our thoughts are with the Queen and his family and friends.
