On Wednesday I attended a meeting at Christ’s College. It was well attended by by those who have an interest in transport and in particular airports.
Jonathan Moor, Director General for Civil Aviation, DfT gave the department for transport view. This was followed by the managing director of Stansted Airport and then Robert Marshall from our own Cambridge airport.
There now seems little political appetite for a third runway at Heathrow or a second runway at Stansted.
Numbers of passengers have fallen during the recession after a number of years of growth. Aircraft have got more efficient and less noisy.
Cambridge is focussed on the executive jet market which fits in wonderfully with our aim to demonstrate Cambridgeshire is open for business.
