What a great day. Like many others I had received an invite to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Picnic. What I had not immediately realised was that I had been lucky enough to be in the Cambridgeshire tent where we would be presented to the Queen.
And then it got even better. I was invited to have lunch with the Queen. What a great honour and a real pleasure.
The day went off without a hitch. The weather was fine, the organisation magnificent and the company entertaining. There was a real atmosphere about the place. Our armed forces were well turned out and as efficient as always.
Our Queen looked very well and seemed to enjoy herself. She certainly spoke to a lot of people.
A piece of history that I felt proud to be part of.
