Given the significance of the visit to Cambridge by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge I was expecting a full turn out of the good and the great. The impact on tourism is huge. The impact on our school children and in particular those that were performing is profound.
This visit showed the world that people care about Cambridge. It showed the children of the Manor school that society cares about them, even if they sometimes get told something else by cruel individuals.
All civic leaders had a duty to support this royal visit. So where was the Liberal Democratic MP Julian Huppert? Too busy in Parliament we are told.
I’m sorry but even if an MP is full of self importance the reality is that back bench MPs have little effect. Spending the day supporting Cambridge and the people of Cambridge would have been a better use of his time.
