Tour de France – a great opportunity at no cost

Cllr Martin Curtis, our cycling champion at the County Council, and I have been negotiating the Tour de France coming to Cambridgeshire for some time.

Along with Cambridge City Council, we have been clear that hosting a stage must be at no cost to the councils. We had to hold out to the last minute but have successfully had all costs underwritten elsewhere.

We can all now start looking forward to this exciting event.

  2. Are you able to reveal who has underwritten the costs? To be clear, does this include road surface improvements that would otherwise have not happened and the alterations to road furniture that are typically requested by ASO?
    I’m really looking forward to the event, but it would not harm things if there was complete transparency.
