Teachers from the National Union of Teachers are on strike today
Parents will struggle to understand why the NUT is pressing ahead with strikes over the government’s measures to let heads pay good teachers more.
The NUT called for talks to avoid industrial action, but in spite of weekly meetings with the Government they are still taking action that will disrupt parents’ lives, hold back children’s education and damage the reputation of the profession.
By letting good teachers be paid more we are working to deliver the best schools and skills for our young people so they can succeed in the global race, an important part of our long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain.
