This afternoon I was the guest speaker at the politics club of Chesterton Community College. The organisation was fantastic. I was met by
Jack who conducted himself perfectly and had the gravitas of someone much older. A great host and not a teacher in sight.

I gave a brief 5 minute overview of politics, from my perspective, and then fielded questions for 40 minutes.

Some people think that youngsters are disengaged from politics. Not a bit of it. The classroom was full and this was after school had finished.

The questions were thoughtful, well presented and in the main tougher than I used to face from the Lib Dems in the council chamber.

I left thinking communities will be safe in the hands of young people like these.
