Today, the Education Secretary will announce tough new GCSEs and A-levels in arts and creative subjects, enabling young people to have access to more high quality qualifications.
For years Labour dumbed down the exams system and let grade inflation rip. They pretended constantly rising grades meant standards were improving, yet all the while we were falling further behind our international competitors.
Conservatives are restoring rigour to our GCSE and A-level qualifications so that they once again enjoy the confidence of parents, pupils and employers.
These new qualifications will allow every child to nurture their creative talent at school, learn about our great art as well as dance, music and design and gain high quality qualifications that are respected and valued.
This is part of the Conservative long-term economic plan to deliver the best schools and skills for our young people so that they can get a good job, an apprenticeship, or a place at university and succeed in the global race.
