This was an important day. The election for leader of our conservative group, at the County Council, took place. That was important because as the conservative group has the majority in the council chamber the leader of the group also becomes the Leader of the Council. I was very honoured to have been selected as leader, particularly as the other contenders were excellent.
We all had different approaches. I was the least experienced politically so focused on strong leadership, localism, enterprise and strong financial management. These are the areas in which I have significant experience and are attributes that the citizens of Cambridgeshire tell me they want in the leader of the council.
I went home exhausted and humbled. What a great day.
