A challenging meeting today with a senior member of our research team. We forget how important to a large organisation data and information is. I guess we are used to searching google and expect to see it.

The trouble is when we are trying to workout the most effective intervention point in say, reducing time people spend in hospital and then in our care system, this data is pretty specific and localised. In order to save money, to meet our budget challenges, we must understand these issues better. Our research team is excellent but I suspect a little unsung. I have made a note to ensure the whole organisation understands their capability and how the information make effect positive evidence based change.

I had forgotten how exciting the world of data and information can be, when it affects real life decisions.
