Today we are off to enjoy a day at the races in Newmarket.
The name Newmarket races doesn’t tell the full story as much of the industry including one of the courses, many trainers and part of the school is in Cambridgeshire.
I had a visit some time ago and was left feeling that we don’t treat this thriving industry with enough seriousness in Cambs.
Interestingly, the most valuable cargo that arrives at Cambridge airport, is often the horses. This multimillion pound industry is complex, involves lots of investment, employs large numbers of people and is crucially a world beater.
We should celebrate success and be proud of it.
I suspect my £1 each way bets won’t frighten the bookies too much but I will certainly enjoy the experience.
